Friendship Day

Friendship Day, this day has so many memories, isn’t? 

Remember the first Sunday of August every year? All of us used to be so excited. As a child, we were excited about the friendship bands, as teens we were excited about friends hangout, as we turned adults we didn’t really have that much time for our friends and then when we’d be turning old, we’d be missing our squad & all the memories we created with our friends. 

The circle of friendship is as round as the Earth. It ends where it has all started.

The saying, ‘Friends for life’ or ‘best friends forever’ is so ironical, we promise our friends to be the same for the rest of our life, but the situation, choices & time doesn’t spare anyone, not even friends!

Remember, any of your friend who used to be your BFF in the school who later turned into ‘just friend’ when you reached college & after some years, you term that friend with a tag, 'He WAS my friend’, dude? When u promised to be friends for life, then how could he become a past? That’s where irony appears.

Can’t u remember, once u used to share every single detail of your life to that a person knowing he would never judge you unlike others, he’d support you at every good & bad times.

Today’s friendship is all about hashtag where we click pictures to upload it on Instagram with some feelingless hashtags like #friends #friendsforever #friendsforlife #lifelines #bff  #friendslikefamily and whatnot. 

We socialize for a reason today. It’s not our parent’s era of selfless friendships.

We befriends with class toppers to seek attention, befriends with seniors to get rid of ragging, befriends with teachers to be their favorites, befriends with boss for a promotion, there’s a hidden motive behind everything. I wish it could be selfless, real & genuine.

I went to a place & was dejected seeing a group of friends gathered for a bday party and no one was talking to anyone, rather they all were busy in their phones, it was just right before they were leaving the place when they needed good pictures so, they started taking all the pictures & selfies looking like they can’t get rid of their friends, like so much love and 'friends forever' types. They clicked pictures & that’s it, back to the phone game.

Friendship is all about this now!!

Remember when all were school kids, we used to buy friendship bands for our friends, teachers and even for parents. Students were having a bet over whose going to have the highest number of bands. But now even children are sensible & so mature that they think it's not their standard. For us, tieing bands meant making our bond strong but not anymore I guess.

Ever thought what we’re doing? Think about yourself once. Studies, career, responsibilities definitely engage us but ever introspect that you’re actually alone. Take a little time out of your busy schedule, try to reach out to your lost friends before your ego makes its way to break your friendship.

It’s a very popular saying that, 

Two persons would never judge you, one is a stranger & another is your friend.

This friendship day, why not just try to call your lost friends only for a minute at least? Why not let's try to talk to each other rather than playing Candy Crush or PUBG? Why not just try to play any game instead of clicking pictures? Why not actually standing by your friend rather dealing with your ego issues?

  

Admit it, you do get jealous when you see your friend's Instagram post with someone else with a #bff, so just confront that person, tell them they belong to be your friend, apologies for not being in contact & try to reassemble the old bond. It feels so good, so relaxed & you’d be mentally prepared for anything because u know then onwards, that someone is there having your back.

Friends are a boon, Friendship is beautiful, it only demands you to be a pillar of each other and there should not be any space for ego. That it!

Well, I didn’t have many friends during my teens, there were few & I’ll cherish them for a lifetime despite the fact we don't even know each other's whereabouts. I still look at our pictures & all the memories become fresh. I regret losing them, just make sure you guys don’t end up doing the same.

Celebrate this day with your real friends & create a memory for a lifetime!!
